Sea Quest- Layton, Utah

My kids were so excited to go to the aquarium. The first things that they saw was the escalator to get down to the aquarium. I'm not sure they ever remember being on one before and they had a blast riding up and down and up and down.

We used our PBS kids Read-A-Thon passes to get into the aquarium for free.  Every November, PBS Kids has a read-a-thon. If your child reads at least 20 minutes every day, they can get a pass to many places such as Hogle zoo, Clark Planetarium dome theater, and the Sea Quest Aquarium.

Guess the Magnified Picture

After coming back from camping, we had lessons on sharing, creative play, and fine motor skills.

K updated our calendar. We noticed he was having a hard time remembering days of the week. Putting him in charge of the calendar has really helped him understand the days of the week and month. Plus, he gets a lesson in responsibility. He loves that it's his calendar to take care of.

Forest School

Play is essential to kids' learning and development. If you stop to think about it, every young mammal on the planet learns through play.

This week we spent a few days learning in the woods with very limited electronics (only a tablet for reading).

Our PE coach supervised the kids as they worked on improving their balance.

Living Family History

This week the kids were able to visit ever single one of their grandparents and all but one of their still living great grandparents. They also got to spend a few days playing with cousins.

With a few cousins, we went to Thanksgiving Point's Museum of Curiosity.

Teaching to a Child's Interest and Other Benefits of Homeschooling

Quote of the week

Nothing is impossible.

The word itself says I'm possible.

Audrey Hepburn

A couple posts back I wrote how much I loved science. Because I think it's so fun, we do a lot of it. But then my daughter took some of her art to display at a talent show and the next day I found my son drawing on his own time. "I love drawing," he told me.  My other son started asking to do Art for Kids Hub again, one of his obsessions over the summer.

Bryce Canyon with Kids

My husband was presenting at a conference just outside of Bryce Canyon. So of course we tagged along to play in the park all day while he imparted of his knowledge and learned many useful things from others.

The first day we only had the afternoon. To make turning into all the view points easier, we first drove to the farthest point in the park, Rainbow Point. From there we worked our way out of the park. By doing it this way, all of the view points were on the right hand side of the road.

The Full Sulphur Creek Trail at Capitol Reef with Kids!

A couple of years ago we took our kids to Capitol Reef. We had a lot of fun eating ice-cream and pie and hiking trails such as The Grand Wash and The Tanks. However, there was one trail- or should I say route- that we didn't get to hike. Sulphur Creek!
