Math: Percentages
Language Arts: Writing an opinion essay, the outline and first draft.
Science: The unheated greenhouse plants really slowed down after the cold. Spinach has faired the best, and it's almost time for a second cutting. Also, thinned carrots for the last time. They, too, are growing slower than normal summertime carrots.
A1 also had Animal Science Club and watched animal videos on the Real Science YouTube Channel. Here's A1 with what he's learned.
Florida's Python Problem. People thought a pythons mouth could open very wide and then they found it could open even bigger and they are populating Florida so fast and eating native species.
Chimpanzees, the extremely unfriendly creatures. There is no taming one so when people tried to do that, it didn't go too well. Chimpanzees hunt down each other, or other animals, just to kill them. Chimpanzees are my new greatest fear, by a lot.
Greenland Shark! Warning do not eat or else you will feel a very slow and painful death! Do not let this creature, that is the longest living vertebrate, bite you unless you want a nice round chunk of you to come out by its razer sharp teeth! Yes, many Greenland Sharks were alive before the United States was a thing. In the first study, every single shark they tested was alive before that (250-400 years old) so they live a very long time.

How States got Their Shapes (2 episodes)
Did you know that on the Georgia quarter, part of Georgia is missing? The top left corner wanted to secede from the union before the civil war so they seceded from Georgia. They left it off when they made the quarter. In Pennsylvania, tots of people still use horse pulled wagons and no electricity or even no cars.
In addition, we are studying states- the A1 way. Meaning, we are looking for the most unique animal facts for each state. To kick us off here is A1 with what he has learned about Delaware (the first official state...by 5 days).
Yes Delaware has sharks! The rarest sea turtle in the world has been found there. A chicken was named after Delaware two!
Extras: Piano- A1's favorite song to play right now is Eye of the Tiger. Built a tunnel, which is both PE and engineering.
For A2: More reading and Little House on the Prairie. We forgot to do stickers on her 1,000 books before kindergarten chart awhile back and never got back to doing it. Oops. Plus, reading novels makes it hard to track what is a "book". Either way, we are still focusing on reading.
She also loves to write. Her word of the week is "locket". She obsessed with wanting one, and I'm left wondering what My Little Pony episode taught her about them.
Her and K pulled out the art bin this week, and have been making arts and crafts straight from their imaginations.
