'Twas the Week Before Christmas (Homeschool Edition)

'Twas the week before Christmas, when all through the house

All the  people were restless, even the spouse;

Math angles were solved by the children with only one care,

Finish the workbook and get out of there.

The children's English, review of things they had read,

while wishing the semester was over instead.

With mamma worn out, really needing a nap,

most of the school days we decided  to scrap.

When out came the sun, warmth the record did shatter

Out to the lawn, the parks, forget subject matter.

Away with the cold, coats discarded like trash.

Open the windows, freshen the air in a flash.

Outdoors to explore the world we should know

It's proven, playing in dirt helps children to grow.

When what to their wondering eyes should appear,

A few stray snowflakes, falling from a sky so clear.

The wind began blowing so fierce and so quick.

Running for cover we knew the warmth couldn't stick.

Back inside to learn presidents all the kids came.

with fun facts on each one, we reviewed them by name.

Now Madison, Monroe, Now Adams and Jackson

Down to Tyler, and Taylor, Lincoln and Johnson

All of their portraits sticky tacked to the wall

Just look at them, look at them, look at them all.

Put the school work away, and we all breath a sigh.

With lessons complete, the days till Christmas fly by.

We settle down for movies, baking, and playing, too.

With many fun things, there's so much we want to do.

Now this poem is too long, I'm tired of rhyming,

Christmas is coming and cookies are baking

Time to be with family enjoying music and fun

Seeing lights twinkle, embracing the magic.

To all homeschool moms take a good rest deserved

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
