Week 11: Halloween

Quote of the week picked by A1

You can't control the wind, but you can adjust your sails.

We began the week by melting Sulphur crystals and reforming them into a different type of crystal. (Mel Science Kit) The kids used paperclips as the catalyst to set of the reaction.

A1 also worked on his nature notebook.

Language Arts: Each day A1 wrote his spelling words into a story. We then edited punctuation and grammar or each story.

Dad finished reading The Hobbit to the boys and they enjoyed a movie night watching the old hobbit cartoon.

Math: We finished the review and moved onto adding and subtracting fractions with uncommon denominators.

History: We talked more about the Bill of Rights and read through some of the constitution. It's more wordy than the Declaration of Independence so we just did a simple overview of it.

And More Learning: This week in Chess Club, A1 won all three of his games and ended up with the top score of the week. He was very proud he final got first after weeks of coming in 2nd or 3rd. He loves Chess.

We raced each other on our ninja course (spoiler he wins every time),

Dad and the littles went on a motorcycle ride.

A1 had engineering club and he did a lot of cooking. One day he decided to have cooking marathon and listed out a bunch of things to make- garlic bread, Rice Krispies, French toast, etc. He also practiced lawn care.

For art, we decorated Halloween bags.

And made magical wands.

A1 also composed a creepy Halloween song.

A2 drew unicorns and other things on a giant poster board,

Did some art at story hour,
And played with kinetic sand.
She also sang us a song at Joy School during their Halloween party and she's about half way to filling another 100's reading chart.
