Bonus: Arches, Dinosaurs and More (Hiking Moab with kids)

This week we had Math/Science/History/PE/Geology all wrapped into one epic field trip. We headed down to Moab for some amazing hiking.

First, we went and saw some dinosaur tracks and a petroglyphs.

Dino tracks on this rock

K thought this rock looked like a little watermelon.
J loved this big flower.

Next, we headed to Corona and Bowtie Arch. I've wanted to go to Corona Arch since 2020.
You cross railroad tracks at the beginning of the trail.
Big Koala Bear is watching.
There's a chain to use up a steep part
And a small ladder on the trail, too.
Bowtie Arch.
Calling out from here,
you can hear your echo four distinct times.
Corona Arch just might be my favorite.
Here it is with someone standing underneath. It's huge.
A1 taking in the view.
On the way back, we stopped at Pinto Arch. Because it had been lightly raining, we got to see a small waterfall from this arch.
A2 was the leader on this section of the trail.
It was hard to keep up; she's a great hiker.

With time still in the day and weather cooperating, we headed back to the the Poison Spider trailhead to hike to Longbow Arch. This was my favorite trail.

Epic Views
Big Arch
Unique Formations
Green Rocks

In all, we probably hiked 6 1/2 miles.

It was perfect hiking weather with some misty rain to keep things cool. When going into the desert, hikers should come prepared with plenty of water, electrolytes, and snacks. Remember, deserts can get really cold or really hot really fast.

We have a good weather app (Windy) that is pretty accurate on where storms and cloud cover is going to be, so we knew were weren't going to get caught in floods from the rain but also came prepared with everything from sun shirts and hats to sweaters and rain jackets. Stay safe and enjoy the adventure.
