The Every Day Academics

While I often just highlight the unique things we do each week, I feel it's important to occasionally remind readers we consistently do work in basic subjects every school day.

For math, J does Teaching Textbooks, A1 does Mia Academy, and K does Singapore Math.

J and A1 use Mia Academy for language arts and science.

J uses Mia Academy for world history, too.

Every day, all three write for a minimum of 20-30 minutes. They do the same for reading.

A1 just started piano lessons, and should be practicing every day.

We try to do a little art every week, too.

K is currently trying out forest school once a week. Some of the things he did at forest school was make a tri-corner hat, and trace his body.

Here, he's adding organs and bones.
He also built a Crunch Labs kit at home.
J build a marble sand garden from a Hack Pack.
She also built a sled track on our snow day. All this snow fell in one night. The kids also went sledding on the mountain (PE!).
The kids made crafts at craft club (before the snow).
Also, before the snow J and I went rucking. We both reach the goal load weight we wanted to carry. We have since lightened our loads a bit and are going for distance/speed now.
Coach came with us and did a polar plunge

While we didn't study facts about countries this week, J and I have been playing online Risk. (Warzone.com) We have played the world counties map, the states of the United States map, and our state's counties and county seats. We play on a team against AI. It's a fun way to learn and review.

A1 and I have been enjoying documentaries about animals around the world. He already knows a surprising amount of animal facts from Wild Kratts.

For Valentine's Day, A2 and I made strawberry rainbow cupcakes.

We have also started reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe out loud.

Lots of good things happening here.
