Southwest Utah with Kids

We took a weekend visit to Southwest Utah.  Like visiting Southeast Utah, there was more to do than we had time for. For this trip, we prioritized outdoor activities.  First, we stopped by Cove Fort.

We learned the women would crochet human hair from their brushes into wreaths, that the saying "pop goes the weasel" was from when the women would wind yarn. After 30 winds, the weasel would pop. We also learned that telegraph messages could only be sent 30-40 miles at a time. Far from the international communications of today.

The fort has two gates and twelve rooms. The "Best Room" was where Brigham Young would stay on his travels down south.

At the end of the tour, each person received a wooden spinner toy. This entertained the kids while we drove to our next destination....

...the Cedar City Aquatic Center. Since we were swimming, we don't have any pictures, but it it was a fun way to get energy out after and long drive.

The next day, we headed to St. George to test out a few parks they have there. We went to Canyon Park, Pioneer Park, and Thunder Junction Park.

After our fun in St. George, we headed over for a full day in Zion National Park.
