Purposefully bring joy into your life.
Lynnette Sheppard
When
I pay attention, I can find things around me that bring joy.
There
are many exciting experiences awaiting me.
I
can find humor in the day-to-day.
I
can be myself.

For Language Arts, A1 worked on writing descriptions. Let's see if you can guess what these are:
- Comes in colors red and green with a stem that grows on trees. Sometimes hard and sometimes soft. Taste plain at first but soon you'll find the juice.
- Smells so cinnamony and delicious, nice and soft to the touch, taste of spice and sweetness, cinnamon and sugar swirled into a little roll rises from small to large and topped with frosting.
For science, A1 watched more Real Science videos. He watched one on monkeys.
From A1: Monkeys like cucumbers but they like grapes even more and will throw a disk at you in hopes of getting one.

For history, we watched another episode of How the States Got Their Shapes and learned about more presidents.
Presidents
Andrew Johnson had a pet mouse. Tried to unify the country after Civil War. First president impeached.
Ulysses S Grant was not real his name, it was Hiram Ulysses Grant. It became Ulysses because a guy accidently wrote it wrong on military papers. The S stands for nothing.
Rutherford B Hayes was the first president to have a telephone. He won by just one electoral vote.
James A Garfield was not running for president but was nominated when they couldn't pick another candidate. And he was the first left handed president. He was assassinated after four months.
Chester A Arthur, Garfield's vice president, then became president. He owned 80 pairs of pants and changed a couple times a day and loved fashion. Some people thought that he wasn't born in the United States.
Grover Cleveland was the second biggest president and vetoed more bills than any president up to that time. He had a secret surgery on a yacht for cancer. Only president to marry while president. His daughter was the only child born in the White House to a president. One of the two presidents to serve two non-consecutive terms. He was the 22nd and 24th president.
Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd president. He was the centennial president because he was made president on the 100th anniversary of George Washington becoming president. He was the grandson of William Harrison. He had a goat named Old Whiskers. He was the first president to have electricity.
William McKinley was the 25th president. He was one of four presidents be assassinated the first president to ride in a car. He took care of his sick wife and he had a pet rooster.

Here's what A1 learned about the shaping of America from episode 3 of How the States Got Their Shapes. Hawaii is the safest state to be in! (Or was when this episode was made. They've had some pretty bad disasters since then.)
One time during a war with the British, the British burned down the White House and were trying to take over Washington DC. God said, "No." and sent a twister. Disasters are the most powerful weapon and it killed more of the British than the US army of soldiers.
And Kentucky has a random part of it that's stranded in Missouri, and you can only get to it by going through Tennessee.

Extra: A1 practiced the piano, finished January Chess Club and Animal Science Club, and attended a Wings of Fire webinar. He also built a habitat for the Night Wing dragons who live in a lava world.
