Holy Week

He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
-Matthew 28:6

On Palm Sunday, J performed "The Living Christ" in a youth choir. We also watched a video of The Triumphal Entry. For the first time, we had live palm branches for our home.

On Monday, we reviewed how he cleansed the temple and then healed the sick at the temple. Because of Him, we can overcome all our adversities.

On Tuesday, we learned how he taught the people. We listened to music about our Savior and read some of his teachings from The Bible.

On Wednesday, although not directly related to Easter, we had a cookout with family.  Because of Him, death is not the end. Those same people we loved in life, we will see again.

Thursday, we had a "Jerusalem meal" while talking about Passover and The Last Supper. We reflected on the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Friday, we reflected on the crucifixion, his physical and spiritual suffering on the cross, and his body being laid in the tomb. Even here, he showed mercy and willingness to forgive. (Luke 24: 34)

Saturday, we made "Resurrection Rolls". We rolled a marshmallow in oil and spices, enclosed it in the tomb of dough, and after it bakes, the "tomb" is empty.

Saturday was the Jews' Sabbath, and on that Sabbath day, the Lord of the Sabbath was not with them. He was dead. His body lay in a tomb, guarded by their enemies. All hope of him redeeming them from the Romans, and being the King of the Jews, had faded like the sun who hid its light when Jesus died.

But Jesus did not come to just be the king of the Jews, or save them from a worldly kingdom. He came to save us all. From death, from sin, from justice's grasp. He, the King of Kings, paid our debt and opened the door that we may all live again.

Oh, how glorious that Easter morning, when one word turned despair into everlasting hope and joy. "Mary."  With the utterance of her name, Mary Magdalene, recognized the Savior's voice, risen from the grave, and turned to Him. (John 20:16) He likewise calls to each of us, personally asking us to turn. Will you look to Him and live?
